WELCOME

I'm inviting you to a travel through time with the help of this homepage illustrating the past forty years and the present of Károly Róbert College.

Forty years -in the best possible case -is an active part of a man's life,and in
the history of a school it is an important phase,a reason to look back, to evaluate the process, to plan how to go further. We re now looking through
the activities of the institution, activities that feed on century old roots at
the foot of the Mátra Mountain.

In 1871 the leaders of the Town Economic Association in Gyöngyös were the first to start establishing university of viticulture and wine growing,and in 1900 a wine-dresser school was already working. All those who work here with faith and resolution for the future of the institution impersonate this beautiful inheritance.

I myself have been participating in this common work since 1978.
I came here from production and this brought about not only qualitative
changes in my life but it also means a great challenge till present days, too.
In addition, I take each and every event of the college as a personal mat-
ter. It is a special gift of life that I have been able to work here for almost
a quarter of a century. During this time our educational palette has con-
tinuously been extending and together with this the prestige of the institu-
tion has also been rising. The development in the institution started and
required qualitative changes not only in the conditions of materials but also
personal ones,and scientific research has achieved appreciation, too.

Because of the various improvements and the high quality work the more
than a century old dream has come true: with the establishment of Károly
Róbert College in Gyöngyös an independent institution began its function-
ing on 1 September 2003. Since 1 January 2004 the college has two fac-
ulties:the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Agriculture. The num-
ber of our students exceeds 17.000. From the 2004/2005 academic year
our students can commence their studies in 12 majors of college level, in 4
majors of advanced professional training,in 3 majors of professional fur-
ther education,and,for the first time,in a university level major.Students
can now learn Management in English as well.

Identifying myself with the ideas of István Széchenyi,I also believe that "The next generation must come one step closer to the light". In this spirit Károly Róbert College considers it of its own mission to enable anyone who comes here to study or to teach not only to prepare for their profession or to get a job but also to be successful and reach their achievement of life.
